Decision made!

So, last night my lady friend and I were strolling around Bed Bath and Beyond for the hell of it while our boyfriends were at home having push up contests (yes, I'm so serious! haha) and I stumbled upon two amazing deals. A festoon valance for the kitchen ($4.99 on clearance) and brand new deep pocket white sheets for our King bed ($23.99 on clearance) I am so happy :)
Below is a picture of the valance (not the panels) for the kitchen! So excited to put everything together and show you guys!

Tier or Tie up?

So as you all know, I am going with more of an eccentric, european country feeling style in my new home. I will finally have a window above my kitchen sink, so to complete my yellow kitchen and blue/green/gray dining room, I am trying to find a window treatment for my kitchen window. I cannot figure out whether I want tier or a tie up valance...maybe even a valance as well as tier? Here are a few, opinions please! Color opinions too, Merci :)

Kitchen Chalkboard

I found the most adorable EXPENSIVE chalkboard for the kitchen today, if only i could afford the $240 Price tag. I want something to write recipes, shopping lists and To Do lists on. This is perfect!

Fabrics

Everytime I am around fabrics, I am always drawn to the baby fabrics, especially retro baby fabrics. Aren't these adorable? I would love to make curtains out of them. How can I incorporate these into my home or wardrobe without screaming "Baby!" ?

Dining Room Inspiration

My Grandpa Angelucci was a wonderful man. Some of my greatest childhood memories are of the days spent at his house on Sunset Beach in California, surrounded by the smells of the ocean and fresh Italian food he made OH SO well from scratch. I cherish these memories, and always will.
Everytime I am at Buca Di Beppo, I think back to Grandpa. Something about the atmosphere makes me think of him. I find myself paying more attention to the walls rather than the food each time I go! So for my dining room wall inspiration, I have decided to go with a Buca Di Beppo-ish wall scene. I love the idea of having several picture frames, each different and unique. I purchased a book at Goodwill called "The Canals of Amsterdam" The book is totally 1970's, but I love the pictures. Right now, I have 5 frames w
ith 5 different pictures of Amsterdam. I'm loving it, but wanting to add in some older pictures of every day life outside of just Amsterdam. I have not seen any pictures of my family from anything pre-1980, so unfortunately Im outta luck in that department. Lets see what I can come up with!

Busy!

Jason and I have been so busy with the move, his new job (which is going great!) and me starting school! Once we are all settled into our new home, I will be blogging more often!

I don't think I've ever wanted a pair of shoes so bad!

New Kitchen

Jason and I are moving into a new home, beginning of October. We have the keys so we have started moving in, but before we move the big things in I want to paint all the walls! Jason gave me strict rules "No beige!" So, we are going with more of a Modern Provence theme with Yellows, Reds, Blues, Grays, Peach, Greens, Lavender. (Just google; Provence) First task is our kitchen, I want a soft "Hawthorne" yellow in the kitchen, with more of a pale/soft gray/blue in the dining room. Below is the yellow I would like in the kitchen, and below that is the color I would like in the dining room (a few shades lighter)

I would like to place a vase with dried lavender inside on the center of the table, and some curtains in a green pattern of some sort. What do you think?

My Marie Costume

So, I have been working a few weeks now on my Marie Antoinette costume. I couldn't find any online less than $1000 that I liked, so I decided to be courageous and make my own. Here is the bodice so far! Lots more to do!
The fabric is brocade

Gunne Sax

I love 1970s-ish dresses. I think Gunne Sax needs to come back around, with a more toned down modern version. What do you think?

Look of the Week; Dali Love

My boyfriend's favorite artist is Salvador Dali, so I chose one of my favorite Dali pieces for my look of the week. Dali used a lot of symbolism in his art, an image of an Egg being one of his most common, which he used to symbolize hope and love. See if you can find his, and mine!

Lake Titicaca

Despite the funny name, I would LOVE to go to Lake Titicaca. It's in South America, between Bolivia and Peru and is the highest navigatable lake to the sky. How nice would it be to cruise along the lake so close to the clouds?

My weekend project

I was driving with my boyfriend, and on the side of the road, someone left behind a nightstand no longer wanted, it was missing a drawer, but that doesnt matter to me! Luckily Jason has a truck, so he grabbed it for me and threw it in the back. My room color is "Manhattan Mist" with black and white accents, so I decided to paint the table white with a Black silhouette of Marie Antoinette. I couldn't love it more!
